This last weekend we were babysitting a friend's almost-3-year-old whom loves to put on her own shoes, but had trouble getting them on the right feet — until we made her a red embroidery floss friendship bracelet (just like we did in grade school) and put it on her right ankle. Then we marked the bottoms of her right shoe with red fingernail polish just like the website, www.parenthacks.com suggested and Voila she figured it out in no time. Right away she simply put the shoe with the red dot on the foot with the red anklet and go go go went. Her mom was thrilled and wanted to know when we could babysit for her again. We can hardly wait as we love having little ones around since our little ones are getting so big!
A bracelet on the right wrist would work too. To help reinforce the lesson, talk about "red" and "right" beginning with r, and paint a red "R" on the shoe.
Some of us still have a hard time remembering right and left.
I read this hack on www.parenthacks.com where you'd be amazed at all of the parenting tricks of the trade exist!
